Tim Conway was born in Willoughby, Ohio, and graduated from Bowling Green State University using a diploma in Speech and Radio. From there, he joined the Army, and then started working for a radio station in Cleveland. He worked his way up from the mail-room to serving as a writer. In the late 50s, he started working for KYW TV, and then for WJW-TV, acting sketch comedy. He started to get a following as the co host of “Ghoulardi”, a late night horror movie show on Friday nights. After celebrated comedic performer Rose Marie saw some of his sketch comedy work, she encouraged him to move to New York, and he started performing as part of “The Steve Allen Show”. From there he went on to star on his own short lived show, “The Time Conway Show”, and after that shot a show of popular comedic films opposite Don Knotts. He joined the cast of “The Carol Burnett Show” in 1975, and stayed together with the program through the conclusion of its own run, winning five Emmy Awards while with the show.
