4Became a United States citizen in 2014.
5Has played Sherlock Holmes (in Elementary (2012)) and Woodrow F. Call (in Dead Man's Walk (1996)). The two characters' working partners, John Watson and Augustus McCrae, had both been played by Robert Duvall (in Lonesome Dove (1989) and The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1976).
6He worked with Christopher Lee in Dark Shadows (2012), while his grandfather, Bernard Lee, worked with him in Pursuit of the Graf Spee (1956), Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965), and The Man with the Golden Gun (1974).
7Appearing on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre in "After Miss Julie" with Sienna Miller. [November 2009]
8In Los Angeles for the upcoming television show Eli Stone (2008). [November 2006]
9Currently in the Los Angeles area for the television series Smith (2006). [September 2006]
10His character in Trainspotting (1996) is obsessed with James Bond films, especially those with Sean Connery. In real life, his grandfather, Bernard Lee, played M, Bond's superior, in many of the films, including all of Connery's films.
11He has played Scottish characters three times: in Trainspotting (1996), Complicity (2000), and The Flying Scotsman (2006). He did it so convincingly that many viewers and critics believed that he is from Scotland. Due to this frequency, Craig Ferguson, who is really Scottish, declared Miller an Honorary Scotsman.
12He was the only non-Scottish cast member of Trainspotting (1996).
13Good friends with Benedict Cumberbatch, with whom he shared the central roles of Frankenstein and his creature in Danny Boyle's stage production of "Frankenstein" (2011). Coincidentally, Miller was cast as Sherlock Holmes in Elementary (2012) and Cumberbatch has been playing the legendary detective in Sherlock (2010) since July 2010.
14He appeared in two different adaptations of Jane Austen's 1814 novel "Mansfield Park": Mansfield Park (1983) and Mansfield Park (1999). He played Charles Price in the former and Edmund Bertram in the latter. He played another Austen character, Mr. Knightley, in Emma (2009).
15Godfather of Jude Law's eldest son, Rafferty Law, born on October 6, 1996.
16Former son-in-law of Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand.
17Former brother-in-law of actor James Haven.
18His ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, and his current wife, Michele Hicks, have the same birthday: June 4.
19Wife, Michele Hicks, gave birth to their first child, a boy named Buster Timothy Miller, on December 3, 2008. He weighed 9 pounds.
20Running is a hobby of his and he ran the London Marathon in 2008 in a time of 3hr 1min.
21Fan of Chelsea FC (England football club).
22Left school at 17 to pursue his acting career.
23In 1996, he played the role of "Woodrow F. Call" in Dead Man's Walk (1996), the prequel to Lonesome Dove (1989). That same year, he was married to Angelina Jolie, whose father, Jon Voight, played the role in Return to Lonesome Dove (1993).
24Lived in Primrose Hill, London, England, near Jude Law and Ewan McGregor. He moved out of the area in the early 2000s.
25Was a member of the UK's NYMT (the National Youth Music Theatre).
26Was offered the role of Prince Henry in Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998).
27Father is Alan Miller, who was a stage actor in the 1950s and '60s.
28Grandfather is Bernard Lee, who played M in the early James Bond movies.

#Quote
1[on his friend Benedict Cumberbatch] He sent me some messages, when he'd first seen the show, and it was really, really nice. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have sent me a text message saying, "You suck!" He's been very supportive, the whole way.
2[on playing Sherlock Holmes in Elementary (2012)] For me, there are two different things that make Sherlock Sherlock. One is, you know, within the books: Obviously, he's a genius with an attention to detail, his ravenous hunger for all aspects of knowledge that might feed into his work. But the major thing that makes him Sherlock is his relationship with Watson -- their friendship. For me, that, I guess, is the biggest side, the more interesting side than the genius.
3[on being voted 1999's coolest couple with Natalie Appleton, by Elle magazine] I thought, "This is just too funny." Then they read my name out and it was highly embarrassing.
4[About his relationship with Angelina Jolie] For a while, it was a very intense relationship, very passionate, and you can never regret being involved in something like that. It was sad that it ended, but I wouldn't change a thing about it. Well, except maybe my haircut.
5I don't think any actor has the luxury of knowing exactly what scripts are going to turn out well and what ones aren't. It would be wonderful to have that particular skill, and maybe people like Tom Cruise have it more than most, but you go into each project hoping that a good, if not great, film will come out the other end. All you can do is look out for good scripts, and interesting people to work with.
6If you're serious about what you're doing, you've got to keep your head and follow your instinct. Maybe you won't reach the same dizzy heights as others, but you will get something back. I'd go anywhere to work, so long as it's worth it.
7New York and LA are both great places to visit, but I wouldn't want to live in either of them now. I find New York extremely claustrophobic and dirty. LA is quite a nice place. But there's no hustle and bustle, no street life. Everyone's going from A to B in a car. Why did I leave [America]? My relationship [with Angelina Jolie] was going bad and I missed England, simple things like smells and major things like the British sense of humor.
