7Father-in-law of Shari Falwell.
8Son, Jerry Falwell Jr., is the president/chancellor of Liberty University. Son, Jonathan Falwell, is senior pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church. Daughter, Jeannie Falwell-Stavas, is a surgeon in Richmond, Virginia.
9His father, an agnostic, was also a bootlegger during Prohibition.
10Has a twin brother, Gene Falwell.
11Was a star athlete who turned down an offer to play professional baseball to attend Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo.
12Three children: Jerry Falwell, Jr.; Jonathan Falwell, and Jeannie Falwell- Stavas.
13Started his first church in 1956, using an abandoned bottling plant in Lynchburg, with just 35 members.
14Founded Lynchburg Baptist College in 1971, now called Liberty University.
15Sued Hustler publisher Larry Flynt for libel and defamation of character over a humor piece which made Falwell look like an incestuous drunkard. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled that no matter how tasteless it was, humor and satire were protected under the First Amendment.
16Was once the victim of a prankster who programmed his computer to dial Falwell's 1-800 number every 30 seconds, then hang up. Since Falwell's organization had to pay for each call, it wound up costing them thousands of dollars.
17Sued Penthouse magazine for publishing an interview he'd given to an independent journalist.
18Hospitalized with pneumonia in February 2005.
19Once claimed that the Antichrist would be a Jewish male, something he apologized for when he heard the outcry against it.
20On The 700 Club (1966) he stated that the attacks on September 11, 2001, were the result of God removing a protective barrier from the United States as punishment for the nation's acceptance of homosexuals and feminists and blamed the politicians for "allowing it to happen", a sentiment that show host Pat Robertson readily agreed with. Contrary to popular belief, neither Falwell nor Robertson ever apologized.
21Declared that Tinky-Winky, a character on the childrens' TV show Teletubbies (1997), was in fact a homosexual, as he carries what Falwell claimed to be a purse, and was intended to subliminally indoctrinate children to accept homosexuality.

1The fruit of a Christian is another Christian. The fruit of a church is another church.
2You do not determine a man's greatness by his talent or wealth, as the world does, but rather by what it takes to discourage him.
3Nothing of eternal significance ever happens apart from prayer.
4The whole global warming thing is created to destroy America's free enterprise system and our economic stability.
5If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being.
6Homosexuality is Satan's diabolical attack upon the family that will not only have a corrupting influence upon our next generation, but it will also bring down the wrath of God upon America.
7AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.
8My heart was burning to serve Christ, I knew nothing would ever be the same again.
9[on the reasons for the terrorist attack on New York City on 9/11/01] I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say, "You helped this happen!"
