He was requested to collaborate on the picture book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? which became a bestseller. He began writing and illustrating his own narratives and his first works contained 1, 2, 3, to the Zoo and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The Very Hungry Caterpillar was translated into over 58 languages and sold over 38 million copies. Carle has illustrated more than 70 publications and sold over 125 million copies world-wide. Some of Carle’s other popular novels include The Grouchy Ladybug, All Around Us, All in a Day, and Small Cloud.
