Brendan Gleeson was born in Dublin, Ireland, and started training as an actor while he was in high school. He went on to work as a school teacher, while pursuing an acting career privately. He appeared in local professional and semi professional productions before the early 90s, when he decided to retire from teaching to concentrate on performing full time. His on-camera career started in the late 80s, but it was his work in 1991’s, “The Treaty”, that put him about the map. He’s been nominated for numerous awards and won an Emmy in 2009.
