Andy Rooney was born January 14, 1919 in Albany, ny. Andy attended The Albany Academy and Colgate University in Hamilton, New York where he was an associate of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Rooney was drafted to the United States Army in August 1941. Rooney started his career in papers while in the Army when, in 1942, he started composing for Stars and Stripes in London during the second world war. In February 1943, flying with the Eighth Air Force, Rooney was one of six correspondents who flew in the 2nd American bombing raid over Germany.
